How to find the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Get the best value:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Booking your vacation rental in Spring or Fall is a good way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First and foremost, have your group select trip dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Remodeled Dec23 \/Best Floorpan\/Oceanfront\/DogsOK has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before booking your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
More considerations:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect your property!
- Record any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
