Myrtle Beach rental property booking tips and tricks:
When to visit & When to book:
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking your vacation home in the Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by choosing trip dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Spacious 2br 15th floor condo @ Myrtle Beach Resort has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before reserving the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
Additional considerations:
- Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
