Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.
Filter your search:
- Select vacation week and spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Best View in the Resort!, AAA Four Diamond Resort, by Luxury Beach Rentals has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before reserving the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Advice for a terrific stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few problems.
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
- Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
