Rental home booking tips:
When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is an excellent way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes.
- Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Finding the perfect vacation rental:
- Select a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. 17th Floor 1Br Oceanfront\/ Dogs OK! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
- If your family is bringing pets, search for a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach beach you are enamored with, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be respectful. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to drive future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
