Rental property booking tips and tricks:
When to book & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Book your Myrtle Beach vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Some hosts offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have coupons for local accommodations and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- Choose your vacation dates and max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Breath-taking Remodeled Oceanfront Studio! Sea Mist 20307 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the host before booking your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.
Tips for your stay:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
