Our top Myrtle Beach rental property booking tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental property in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Begin by choosing a vacation week and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Beachfront 1BR Condo at Dunes Village Resort has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property owner before you book your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach destination you simply love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
