Strategies to get the very best rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To get the best value, consider changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Make a plan and choose your prefectrental:
- First and foremost, have your group select date ranges and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Close to the beach #3 Cozy 2 bedrooms condo! has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
Tips for a smooth stay:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Upon arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
