Booking the best vacation property experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. Book your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Start by having your group decide on the best dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Close to the beach #3 Cozy 2 bedrooms condo! has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you book your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- During arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
