Strategies to get the perfect vacation property experience:

Sticking to your spending budget:

  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, change your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Start by having your group decide on a vacation week and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Coast Comfort Queen Efficiency 16th Floor has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the host before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Tips to have a smooth stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • To make sure damages aren't linked to your family's visit, record any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
