Our top Rental property booking tips and tricks:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to book:
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Coastal Bliss: Ocean View 2BR Condo on 9th Floor has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
Tips to have a smooth stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- To make sure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the host immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of issues.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to inspire more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
