How to find the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, try shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to choose and book your prefect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Begin by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Oceanfront Gem: Stylish Condo with Ocean Views has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the host before you reserve your rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or may be applied to your agreement.
Advice for your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
