Finding the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, try changing your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Oceanfront Beautiful Views 2 Bd and 2 Baths Family-Friendly Lovely Furnishings has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. If not, call the host before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- During check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
