Our top Myrtle Beach rental home booking tips and tricks:
Get the best value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, try changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
How to pick the best rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your dates, and select a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Cozy Ground Floor Villa at Magnolia Pointe! Spacious Two Bedroom MB Condo!! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your trip.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach destination you long to visit, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- To make sure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the property manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
