Tips to get the optimal Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. Book your rental property in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your Search:
- Choose vacation dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Kingston Plantation - 2 BR - Ground Floor, Lake View has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or applied to your agreement.
Some things to know before you go:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Document any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peace. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
