Tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is a great way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
How to choose the best vacation rental:
- Start by having your group select trip dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Davis Dunes 2BR Beachfront on Shore Drive w\/ Stunning Views, Pools & Golf! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation family.
- Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- At Check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect your property!
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
