Getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best rental home within budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Myrtle Beach attractions. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

How to select the best vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:

  • Start by having your family select dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Direct Ocean Front 1 Bedroom 2 Bathrooms Boardwalk Resort Unit 539 Sleeps 8 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before reserving the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking

During your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. text the host immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
