Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation home experience:
Get the best rental value:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Direct Ocean Front 1 Bedroom 2 Bathrooms Boardwalk Resort Unit 539 Sleeps 8 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before booking your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs may be applied to your contract.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
- To make certain damages aren't linked to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the host right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
