Getting the best vacation home experience:
Find your best deal:
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Reserve your rental property in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to choose the perfect rental home:
- Start by choosing the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Direct Oceanfront Unit with Own Balcony, King Bed has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you book your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
More tips for your visit:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Record any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
