Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips:
Getting the most from your budget:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, consider shifting your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
How to pick the best vacation rental:
- Start by selecting your vacation dates and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Fall Deals-Steps 2 Beach-Wide Oceanview-Large Balconies-Pool-Private Complex has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before booking the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- To make certain damages are not attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the host immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
