Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- To get the best vacation home for your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Finding the best vacation home:
- Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Divine Oceanview 1Br\/ Large Balcony! Dogs OK! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible online. If not, contact the property management company before reserving the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation family.
- If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the host's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
- At Check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
