Rental home booking tips and tricks:
When to go & When to book:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to pick the perfect vacation rental:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and select a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. 2BR, View, Pools, Indoor Waterpark, Dunes Village! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. Otherwise, call the property owner before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to drive future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
