Vacation rental booking tips:
Finding your perfect rental:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. Reserve your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your search:
- To start, have your group commit to dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Heavenly Views from 15th Floor: 2 Bedroom Condo has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you are enamored with, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
During your stay:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- To make certain damages are not attributed to your visit, record any problem areas upon check in. message the property manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to propel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
