Tips for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- Book your rental home in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking the right Myrtle Beach rental:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and select a max budget.
- Onsite Dining
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If not, call the host before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Have a great stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to drive new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
