Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your vacation in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have coupons for local accommodations and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- Choose vacation dates and budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Escape to coastal bliss in this beautifully updated second-floor condo has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is best for your family.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
More tips for your visit:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to inspire future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
