How to book the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
How to get the best value:
- To find the largest vacation home within your budget, we suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.
How to select the perfect rental:
- First, have your family commit to trip dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. REDUCED SUMMER WEEKS at Fabulous Ocean Reef Resort has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
Advice for a great stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Upon check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
