Tips and Tricks to get the optimal vacation home experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, change your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to select the perfect vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Choose a group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Fifth Floor Oceanfront Snowbird Friendly Condo w\/ Shared Pool\/Hot Tub, WiFi has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. Otherwise, call the property manager before booking the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what bed configuration is right for your vacation.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
- If your family is bringing pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if there is a dispute.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
