Our top Vacation rental home tips:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To get the most suitable rental home within your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Myrtle Beach attractions.
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Five Star-Oceanfront-Exquisitely Decorated w\/ Lavish Upgrades-Just Redecorated! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before booking the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Advice for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
