Tips and Tricks to get the best rental home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the most suitable rental home for your budget, we recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your search:
- Select a group lead, select your dates, and select a budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Fun Stays in Myrtle Beach - 3 BR Ocean View Condo! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the host before you reserve the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach attraction you love, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or applied to your agreement.
Additional considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
