Strategies for getting the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Find your perfect rental:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Choosing the perfect vacation home:
- Select vacation dates and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Fun Stays in Myrtle Beach - 3 BR Ocean View Condo! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the host before reserving your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or could be applied to your contract.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you love, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
