Rental home tips and tricks:
When to go & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking your vacation rental in Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
- The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning and picking the perfectrental:
- Choose a group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Relaxation Awaits\/1Br Suite Dogs OK! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the host before booking the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Know before you go:
- Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- At Check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
