How to find the best rental experience:
Find your best deal:
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is a great way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have discounts for nearby shops and restaurants.
How to pick the best vacation home in Myrtle Beach:
- First, have your group agree to date ranges and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Oceanfront condo with renovated interior, views, pools, hot tubs & lazy river has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental while you are out. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
