Our top Myrtle Beach rental home booking tips:
How to get the best value:
- Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.
Selecting and booking the rightrental home:
- Choose your dates and spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Golf Course View, 3 Bd 2Ba, 1st Floor Condo, Free WiFi Available, Prime Location has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible online. If not, email or call the property management company before booking the property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.
Additional considerations:
- We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone.
- Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peace. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a excellent vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
