Getting the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
How to get the best value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your Myrtle Beach vacation in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Filter your search:
- To start, have your family choose a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Good Times in Ocean Lakes has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you simply love, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
More considerations:
- Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a excellent stay? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
