Tips to get the perfect rental experience:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.
How to select the best rental home in Myrtle Beach:
- First, have your group commit to dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Gorgeous 2 Bedroom Condo in Legends Golf Community has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the host before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- Note any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
