Tips to get the optimal rental home experience:

When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:

  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Start by having your group select dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. #C Beautiful condo at the Surfside area #C has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the host before you reserve the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .

During your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • At Check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
