Tips and Tricks to get the optimal rental home experience:
When to go & When to book:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, shift your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by selecting trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Gorgeous 2 bedrooms at scenic Oceanwatch Villa in Myrtle Beach, SC has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the host before reserving the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what is suitable for your vacation group.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you love, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
Additional considerations:
- We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the host right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
