Tips and Tricks to get the perfect rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- First, have your family choose dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Gorgeous 4 Bd Rm-Full Access-8D Windermere has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If not, email the property manager before you book your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your group.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Additional considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many problems.
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Contact the property manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
