Strategies to get the very best vacation property experience:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your rental home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to pick the perfect vacation rental in Myrtle Beach:
- First and foremost, have your family choose date ranges and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Beautiful Caravelle Resort Suite with direct sea views has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you book the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your family.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
- Is your family looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
During your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas during check in. Speak to the rental manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to drive new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
