How to book the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. To get the best value, consider shifting your family's Myrtle Beach trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Filter your rental search:
- Start by having your group decide on a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Gorgeous Ocean Front Suite + Onsite Pool has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make sure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. text the host right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
