Our top Myrtle Beach rental property booking tips:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to pick the best rental in Myrtle Beach:
- Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Gorgeous Ocean View Double Suite w\/ Balcony + Beach Access has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. If not, email the host before booking the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
- Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
Have a great stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- During check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of problems.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to compel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
