New for 2023, new central AC unit and wall to wall carpeting throughout the home. Clean, fresh and up to date. Includes wifi and central AC, some places do not...Freshly painted [2021]the entire inside. New appliances, new furnishings, new linens. The golf cart has a new motor, batteries and tires. The place is ready for visitors. ALWAYS INCLUDES GOLF CART. We purchased this property in 2002 as a place to take the kids each summer. My husband and I savor the local eateries and shopping. The kids appreciate the beach, pool and campground recreational activities. The campground has activities for all ages and it is great family fun. We continue to appreciate our home away from home and now share it with many repeat renters. We include the golf cart with the home, because everybody knows you gotta have one when you're at Ocean Lakes!
2021 update: We've removed a double bed from the master bedroom and replaced it with a desk/vanity. The master suite is much more cavernous as a result. We've also added a new couch and recliner, not yet pictured.
We recommend our place for 2 or 3 adults plus kids. We don't recommend 4 adults plus kids.

Our top Rental property booking tips:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, shift your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting the best rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Gotta have a golf cart and wifi ~ always included. Next availability in August. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you book the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
  • If there's an individual Myrtle Beach beach you love, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Document any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
