Strategies to get the best rental home experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, picking, and booking the right Myrtle Beach rental:
- Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Ground Floor 3 Bedroom Condo! Magnolia Pointe 105! Sleeps 6 guests has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
Advice for your stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to drive future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
