Our top Rental property booking tips and tricks:
Money saving strategies:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Hosts sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to pick the best vacation rental:
- Choose vacation dates and max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Ground Floor! Close to so many things to do at the beach. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- If your family is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- To make sure damages are not linked to your visit, record any problem areas during check in. E-mail the property manager right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
