Rental home tips:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, try changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Begin by choosing a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Harbour Lights™ - 1 Bedroom Deluxe has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available online. If not, email or call the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.

Additional considerations:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of problems.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
  • On check-out day, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to compel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
