Tips to get the very best rental experience:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, shift your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning and picking the rightrental:

  • Choose your dates and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Harbour Lights Resort
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before booking the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
  • Does your group require unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to propel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
