Vacation rental booking tips:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best vacation home for your budget, we recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to select the best rental home:
- Start by choosing your vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Harbour Lights, South Carolina, 2 Bedroom Villa has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the host before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is best for your family.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach beach you simply love, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
- Upon check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
