Tricks and tips to get the best vacation home experience:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Booking in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Choose dates and budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. LA8 Cozy condo right on the ocean at \"Landmark\" has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.
  • Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

Know before you go:

  • Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • During arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to compel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
