How to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Some owners offer special rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Make a plan and pick the rightrental home:
- Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Large Family Friendly Condo - Steps to the Beach! Close to Attractions! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your vacation.
- If your group is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Know before you go:
- Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your visit, record any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the host right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
