Our top Myrtle Beach rental home booking tips:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, shift your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to select the best rental:
- Select dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Walking distance to 78Fitness, tennis, pickle ball courts and indoor pool!! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. If not, email or call the property management company before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation group.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you long to visit, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a terrific time? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
