Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips:
When to go & When to book:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the largest rental within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Myrtle Beach restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which often include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting the best vacation rental:
- Start by having your group agree to dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Lodge Villa 1 Bedroom in a 57 Acre Resort + Official On-Site Rental Privileges has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach destination you are enamored with, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
