Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Find your perfect rental:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First, have your group decide on date ranges and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Steps to the beach daily rentals pool washer dryer onsite two balconies full kitchen has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If they are not listed, email or call the host before reserving your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Have a great stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Note any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to stimulate more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
