Strategies to get the optimal Myrtle Beach rental experience:
When to go & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the best value, try shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning, picking, and booking your Myrtle Beach rental:
- Choose a group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Lovely One Bedroom Condo Across the Street From Beach has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available online. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
- Does your group require special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
- During arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
