Tricks and tips to get the optimal rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning and choosing the right Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Begin by selecting vacation dates and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. New Direct Oceanfront Condo on Lower Floor, Pools! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you reserve the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your family.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Additional considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a excellent time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
